Town Hall
The Meredith Town Hall stands adjacent to the Town Highway Garage at 4237 Turnpike Road. Town Hall, which consists of about 1,100 square feet, contains the offices of the Town Clerk and Town Assessor/Code Enforcement Officer. It also houses a main room that serves as the meeting place for the Town Board, Planning Board and Town Court and has a corner desk for the Town Supervisor.
Town Hall was constructed in 1975 at a cost of $20,813.63 by the firm of Gene Walsh of Franklin, which submitted the low bid. Until then, Meredith had no such facility. For many years, the office of the Town Clerk was housed in the Clerk’s own premises–Bisbee’s Store when Ruez Bisbee held the position and Alice Fraser’s home when she was Clerk. Town Board typically met in the Meridale Fire Hall, and Town Court also convened there.
