Town Clerk

Meredith has a new Town Clerk, Penny King.  She was elected in the 2009 Town Election to serve the two  years remaining on the four-year term of Betsy Clark, who resigned early in 2009.

As Records Access Officer, Penny is the custodian of town records, including the minutes of Town Board meetings.

In addition, she issues marriage licenses, dog licenses, hunting and fishing licenses and permits for handicapped parking and serves as the Registrar of Vital Statistics, maintaining a permanent record of marriages, births and deaths. She also makes available applications for building permits and for New York’s School Tax Relief program (STAR), including the basic and enhanced property tax reductions.

Her office hours in Town Hall are 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday.
