Code Enforcement Officer/ Tax Assessor

Diane Lutz is the Meredith Tax Assessor, appointed annually by the Town Board. In addition, she serves as the Code Enforcement Officer.

In 2007, Diane completed a revaluation of all Meredith properties, assessing them at full market value as calculated by the State of New York. Her goal is to maintain all assessments at that level.

Taxpayers who object to their assessments are encouraged to meet with Diane. If not satisfied, they have a right to file a grievance, which is then heard by the Town Assessment Review Board on the fourth Thursday in May. 

Applications for exemptions or reductions—for seniors, STAR, veterans or agriculture—are available from Diane and should be filed before March 1.

In her role as Code Enforcement Officer, Diane is responsible for issuing building permits and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulation regarding land use and building standards.
